Volunteering

The Branch is supported by volunteers.  We are always looking for new volunteers and supporters to help us in our day to day work.  Volunteering with us is very rewarding and worthwhile and doesn't have to take up a lot of your time.  You can give as much or as little time as you can and we know that that may change from day to day.  Whatever time you can give is a brilliant boost for our Branch and gives you something back in return, friendships, experience and the 'feel good' factor that helping Cats gives.  We give training where necessary, for home visitors, fosterers and fundraisers.  There are lots of ways you can help, possibly some you haven't thought of:

  • Fundraisers who turn out in all weathers and to all sorts of events to raise funds pay for all of the cats and kittens needs,
  • Home Visitors who visit everyone wishing to adopt,
  • Knitters who knit toys for the cats and kittens and baby clothes to sell on our market stall,
  • Cake bakers who bake for our events,
  • Fosterers who foster the cats and kittens,

The list is endless and without all of the volunteers our Branch would not be able to help as many cats and kittens that we do.

We are always on the look out for more volunteers - see Volunteers needed page

However much or little time you feel you have to spare, your help will always be welcomed. Be it on a regular, occasional or one-off basis. We really would love to hear from you

Our volunteer home visitors support a local volunteer group by helping find our feline friends happy, caring and suitable homes. They communicate with potential adopters, match cats and kittens with new homes and provide support to new cat owners. This is a rewarding role, as our volunteer home visitors play a vital part in helping cats and kittens find their perfect forever homes.

Volunteer fosterer

Across Cats Protection there are thousands of cats and kittens needing temporary homes until they find their forever families. Many of our feline friends are cared for by volunteer fosterers in their homes or in purpose built pens in their gardens. Most of our volunteer fosterers care for one or two cats at a time, which makes a huge difference and gives these cats a second chance at a happy life. They provide vital hands on care and accommodation to stray, abandoned or injured cats and are part of a dedicated team of volunteers committed to finding new homes for cats in need.

Social media volunteer

Social media and cats go hand in hand, and our social media volunteers use their passion and knowledge of social media to promote the activities of local volunteer groups and teams though various channels. This is a volunteer role that can be done from home, on the train or even from the sofa! Our social media volunteers directly help our feline friends by helping raise awareness of Cats Protection.  A higher profile can help us raise the funds we need for our work, ensure people know they can adopt a cat from us, help promote neutering and help as many people as possible learn more about feline welfare.

Our volunteer website editors promote the activities of our local volunteer groups and teams by helping keep their websites relevant, exciting and engaging for members of the public.
